African Language Dictionaries

The African dictionaries project aims to create easily accessible learning resources for people who might be interested in learning their native African languages better. This project was inspired by the realization that as Africa has globalized, many young people are losing touch with their languages, which is a key part of identity. 

We are currently working on an online dictionary for Rukiga, a language spoken by the Bakiga people in Western & South-Western Uganda. We are excited to share it with the world when it is ready.
